Herein lies a major problem. Bail in this instance has no deterrent value. The dangerousness of the offender is not taken into account. He is returned to his criminal ecosystem.
Anyone who believes that they can better society by maintaining the status quo must be on alcohol or drugs.
Bail where suitable should be applicable, what may be necessary is more stringent conditions of bail such as geographic restrictions, disruptive times reporting such as twice a day morning and evening and curfews…and breaches of conditions should be non negotiable ie instant custodial remands.
Could not agree more. The more difficult life is being subject to bail conditions, properly a rigorously enforced, the greater the deterrent effect.
governments….should put in place a mandatory work order for all offenders : next day regardless ;if they can have their bail covered by themselves or a politician ect make offender’s ….create gigantic food gardens around Borderlie… clear the bush all on the outside of fence perimeters….or fix up schools when not in session. Ect…..clean cemetery…… make them walk threw town wearing placards stating what they have done ,, steal, illegal weapons ammo ect and let public react to them!,,,smmfh
Masiay having a gun is not a bad ting….i know this guy, very humble and not a trouble maker,…now as for di way tings running in st.lucia man just coming and take your life sometime by mistaken identity and no police or no law can save you or give you your life back…so then if is an illegal gun you want to defend your life with,so be it….one life to live, who feels it knows…..anyone!.would you rather being judge by 12 or rather be carried by 6…..me my self for now i just minding my own business cuz you can catch your death.
An arrested or charged man is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Bail should always be granted unless there is reasonable belief that this individual is a flight risk. Further, if the government is not granting gun licenses, then you will find more individuals with no criminal association caring illegal guns.
Stop granting those losers bail, let them suffer for being a nuisance to society.
