Suspect Arrested After BOSL ATMs Vandalised

Police have confirmed the arrest of a male suspect after the vandalism of several Bank of Saint Lucia (BOSL) ATMs.

According to the police, the suspect has a history of mental illness.

The vandalism occurred between midday and 3 PM  on Sunday at the BOSL’s Bridge Street (BOSL Building and Blue Coral) and Waterfront locations, severely disrupting customer service, especially on Creole Day, when many needed cash for their festivities.

CCTV footage on social media shows the suspect entering the bank building with a red crossbody bag containing a stone.

The video captures him using the stone to smash ATM screens, rendering the machines unusable.

Customers quickly voiced their frustrations online, with one customer captured in a viral video saying, “People need their money, maysiay, what’s y’all problem?”

In response, the Bank of Saint Lucia issued a statement acknowledging the vandalism and informing customers that several ATMs are out of service, including two machines at the Bridge Street location, both ATMs at the Waterfront branch, and the cash dispenser at Blue Coral Mall.

BOSL has confirmed they are working closely with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) and service providers to restore the machines as quickly as possible.

They advised customers that operational ATMs are available at all Massy Stores Supermarkets nearby.

The bank has pledged to keep the public updated as repairs progress and aims to minimise inconvenience to customers in the coming days.

  1. @ 105smph…..you should volunteer to guard an AUTOMATIC teller machine if is that you wish! Meanwhile, see how quick a clip of the mentally ill man reach news….violent criminals are protecting and their mugs or crime footing is now shown, most times

  2. A few questions; Why is it only BOSL ATMs?
Why was the image posted, unlike so many other perpetrators captured on CCTV?

  3. @george there are guards all around the entrance to BOSL, …..I guess a man carrying a big heavy red purse didint alert anyone who was supposed to be lookin out’, 2 …I don’t have the nuts to put myself in harms way like these brave officers daily not all of them are dirty there are good Cops RSLP.

  4. MAN NEEDS CASH – this man isn’t mental. He is smart enough to specifically locate the Banks ATMs, conceal his stone to carry out whatever plan he wanted to execute. I am sure the plan was to break the ATM screen to get the money. Having failed at the Bank, he proceeded to Blue Coral. that ain’t actions of a MADMAN.

  5. Certainly not the action of a mad man.
Why not target CIBC and 1st National Bank also located on Bridge Street.?
Then proceeds to BOSL waterfront, like really
Five years at Bordelais would address all his mental issues.

  6. Give them something to do like cleaning up the dirty streets – idle mind = devils workshop. Did these fools think they could break the glass and obtain the funds. Are they mental cases or perhaps seriously possessed by the devil????? – asking a question.
