Emergency responders from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Headquarters in Castries said they transported three people to the OKEU Hospital on Thursday after a vehicle accident at Ciceron, Castries.

The emergency personnel responded at about 12:50 pm after receiving a report that a red Suzuki SX4 had run off the road.

They transported the three victims to the hospital after providing primary medical care.

All the patients were stable on their way to the medical facility.

Earlier this week, the fire department appealed to end violence and careless use of the roads during the festive season and beyond.

Violent crimes and road accidents have taken a toll on the department’s workforce and resources.

The SLFS responded to 15 000 ambulance calls in 2021, compared to 13 623 the previous year.

And officials told St Lucia Times that the 2022 figure is higher than in previous years.
