Saint Lucia’s Health Ministry has reported a ‘significant increase’ in recorded Gastroenteritis cases for 2023 compared to last year.
The disclosure came on Thursday from Medical Surveillance Officer Dr. Dana DaCosta Gomez.
But she explained that the number of cases remains within the expected range despite the increase.
According to the senior health official, a general relaxation of proper hygiene measures might be responsible for the Gastroenteritis spike.
