As a police probe continues into the suspected drowning death of a twenty-six-year-old man in Vieux Fort on Thursday, a cousin and close friend recalled that Chester Ronald Mitchel was a delightful individual and ‘the life of the party.’
“The most loveable in the entire family. Very hard working. He was a hustler,” the cousin told St. Lucia Times.
The cousin disclosed that Mitchel, also known as ‘Choco’, recently became a father.
He said the child is three months old.
“It is very hard for us,” the cousin said regarding Mitchel’s suspected drowning death.
“It happened on his auntie’s birthday, and his mother’s birthday is in two days and my birthday is in three days,” the cousin explained.
According to the police, Marine Police officers at Vieux Fort learned of a suspected drowning at about 2:40 pm at Coco Dan Beach.
A police release said the officers retrieved the body of a man when they arrived on the scene.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for a subsequent date.
