The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services is monitoring a low-pressure area in the mid-Atlantic and has advised residents to take note.
The Met Office says the system, Invest AL92, has a ninety percent chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours.
And the Saint Lucia Met Office says residents should be concerned.
“From the forecast movement, it is expected to be close to us within four days,” Meteorological Services Director Andre Joyeux told St. Lucia Times.
“The forecast track has it moving North of us, but as in anything, this is the weather, and we should prepare for any sudden swing,” Joyeux advised.
He described the system as unprecedented.
“Normally, these systems don’t form this far East so early and we’re in June,” Joyeux explained.
In addition, he said the warm Atlantic waters were the reason for the phenomenon.
