Tropical Storm Bret formed about 1 300 miles east of the Southern Windward Islands on Monday and was moving west at twenty-one miles per hour toward the Caribbean Sea.
The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services said that based on the forecast, the system should approach the Lesser Antilles late this week and could become a hurricane in ‘a couple of days’.
The Met Office advised interests in the Lesser Antilles to monitor the storm’s progress.
In addition, it said another tropical wave over the eastern Tropical Atlantic was moving westward near 17 mph or 28 km/h with a medium chance of tropical cyclone formation during the next seven days.
Bret is the second named storm for the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Tropical Storm Arlene, which formed earlier this month, was the first.
But it dissipated after two days, never threatening landfall.
