The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) extinguished an early Thursday morning fire in an unoccupied two-storey building in Gros Islet town that formerly housed an outlet of Courts Saint Lucia.

A Gros Islet fire station crew responded with an ambulance and a fire truck after receiving a distress call at about 12:10 am.

The crew found that the fire was in an upstairs room, the contents of which were mostly rubbish.

They extinguished the fire before it could spread to two nearby houses.
