The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) extinguished an early Thursday morning fire in an unoccupied two-storey building in Gros Islet town that formerly housed an outlet of Courts Saint Lucia.
A Gros Islet fire station crew responded with an ambulance and a fire truck after receiving a distress call at about 12:10 am.
The crew found that the fire was in an upstairs room, the contents of which were mostly rubbish.
They extinguished the fire before it could spread to two nearby houses.
The concrete building where the fire started sustained ceiling damage and damage to the room where the firefighters extinguished the flames.
