Pierre Congratulates Saint Lucia Association Of London On Its 60th Anniversary

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has congratulated the Saint Lucia Association of London on its 60th Anniversary, declaring that theirs is a history of achievements and contributions to the development of Saint Lucians in both the UK and the homeland.

Before his regular Cabinet meeting on Monday, Pierre met association members.

Writing on Facebook, the Castries East MP noted recent initiatives demonstrating his administration’s commitment to strengthening and expanding relations with the diaspora.

Pierre listed:

1)The scheduled amendment of legislation that will allow the granting of citizenship to the children of second-generation Saint Lucians in the Diaspora

2) The Establishment of a Diaspora Investment Programme to provide an appropriate platform, leverage the presence of our diaspora, and motivate them to explore gainful investment opportunities at home.

3) Establishing a Skills Profile of Nationals in the UK to mobilise their skills, networks, and talents of the Diaspora within a structured manner to participate more meaningfully in the development process in the years ahead.

“Our Diaspora represents our surest market presence in the global village. They are our best ambassadors, providing word-of-mouth promotion of our country to potential visitors and investors,” the Saint Lucia Prime Minister wrote.

And he thanked the diaspora community for continuing to support their homeland.

  1. If I were to tell you who thought of, along with his sister and just one other gentleman, sitting in a living room one Sunday afternoon, his visit was to suggest the formation of a St. Lucia Association, seeing the amount of St. Lucians living and working in the U.K., some with their young family born in the U.K., seeing today how this has grown to be what it is, amazes me. It was only a thought – ‘by the Grace of God, let it be, and it was’ – with blessings abound, the fruits of love lives and will continue as long as ‘HIS’ love is with us; continue to be Blessed.

  2. Alot of them are returning home, opportunities are better but life is London is alot harder than St. Lucia now.
