Neighbouring Martinique, which has experienced a dengue fever spike, has issued an alert, and Guyana has recorded eleven deaths.
Medical Surveillance Officer Dr. Dana DaCosta-Gomez has disclosed that people can become infected more than once with the mosquito-borne illness.
And in a statement Tuesday, the Health Ministry official encouraged individuals with symptoms to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
