BCF Probes Inmate-On-Inmate Attack

A Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) inmate was stable after another prisoner attacked him on Sunday.

Reports indicate that the attack, which left the victim with body injuries, occurred as the recreation period ended.

The victim was rushed to a medical facility for emergency care.

St. Lucia Times has learned that the injured inmate, a Vieux Fort resident, was on remand regarding a firearm offence.

Prison officials suspect the attack was gang-related and have identified and transferred the alleged perpetrator as they investigate the incident.

In November last year, an operation dubbed ‘Clean Sweep’ seized about 1, 500 contraband items from BCF cells, including improvised weapons.

  1. The youtes prefer to go to prison and get 3 meals a day than to go and work for 3 to 5 EC dollars an hour after graduating from secondary school

  2. I’m starting to think that we really need the help of the french police on the island their good at this big time

  3. Is St.Lucia prepare if there was to be a major prison riot, which would result in escape prisoners?…BCF is way passed its acceptable capacity of inmates. The thought of this happening is a scary one.

  4. Mr Deputy, what become of the lost firearm? The public have not heard of anything about this matter. Sometime ago a female was raped in her cell, what become of that?
Is Bordelais a nesting ground for crime? I suggest the government get some of the old officers (retirees) to assist. Mr PM, don’t be stubborn, change the hierarchy of the prison. Was there an officer supervising the inmates during recreation. Make his or her report public.

  5. The time has come for a second prison. To much overcrowding its becoming a problem .
Time to think outside the box.
