DPP News Conference To Address ORC, Other Matters

Director of Public Prosecutions Daasrean Greene plans to address what he described as ‘matters of public importance’ during a news conference ‘in about two weeks‘.

Greene is expected to speak on the situation with the backlog of criminal cases and alleged extra-judicial killings by the police during Operation Restore Confidence (ORC).

During ORC, police fatally shot twelve individuals between 2010 and 2011.

Relatives of the victims and others insisted the officers murdered the men who were on a ‘hit list’ of persons deemed to be dangerous criminals.

In 2022, five officers were cleared of criminal liability in the ORC matter.

“In about two weeks, I will be addressing and inviting the press to a conference to deal with all of these matters that are of public importance,” DPP Greene told reporters on Tuesday.

Days before, outspoken human rights advocate Mary Francis claimed the DPP had become a scapegoat regarding delays in the ORC matter.

The outspoken Attorney at Law made the claim as she renewed a call for justice in the ‘Vieux Fort Five’ killings on the 13th anniversary of the death of the five men.

Police fatally shot John Baptiste Mc Farlane, Mitchel Cadette, Myron Dupal, Kevin Ferdinand, and Allan ‘Lenny’ Louisy during an operation in May 2011 in Vieux Fort as officers allegedly intercepted a robbery.

Francis told St. Lucia Times she had reliable information that the DPP advised the police hierarchy that there is a case to answer in the death of the Vieux Fort Five and the matter should proceed to the court.

Nevertheless, the Executive Director of the National Centre for Legal Aid and Human Rights accused the police of ignoring the DPP’s advice.

“I think that all of the families who have been affected by these incidents etc – they need to be updated. But I cannot compromise the investigations by simply telling you everything that is happening. I have to be responsible as the Director of Public Prosecutions,” DPP Daasrean Greene told reporters.

However, he declared that everyone would know what was happening with all of the investigations within two weeks.

  1. The Vieux-Fort Five” is Mary’s marketing approach to soft sell her POS clients. We are supposed to make a mental association with singing groups like The Jackson 5, Hi-Five, The Dave Clark Five, Maroon 5. Sorry Mary, I saw your ploy from a mile out. You just can’t pull the wool over my eyes. This is too elementary.

These men were low-lives, scoundrels, parasites who ravaged society. Their pillaging didn’t end until they were wonderfully surprised. Their last moments on earth was spent attempting to rob an establishment. In keeping with their brutality, someone in the business establishment had a good chance of being seriously hurt or killed. St. Lucia is relieved that this period is over. There has been a collective sigh. The clues are everywhere that’s in fact so. We don’t see marches for those scumbags. Further, St. Lucians are exhausted by the mere thought of them. They’re not victims. The real victims are the ones they killed and those left behind with emotional trauma.

Pack it in, Mary. Hardworking taxpayers money is for the public good. Definitely not for you and the dependents of those creatures. If anything, real victims are the ones to be compensated. I am exhausted with this parasitic behavior. You are constantly seeking to attach your suckers to the host which is the taxpayer. The mere thought that those families that benefitted from crime and you could get a second payday makes me want to vomit.

Armed gangs have a history of being surprised and wiped out by the law in the countries of her sponsors. Barker/Karpis Gang, Brady Gang, Bonnie and Clyde, members of the Dillinger Gang, Barrow Gang. It’s still being done to this day.

  2. Does this means we will hear the truth and nothing else but the truth? Unless we can hear the names involved in the ORC report and what are the prospectives about the consequences and aftermath we will continue to speculate. This report sit idling for too long which give enough time to multiply itself in to many versions. While the public is awaiting people on the ground already know some details as well.
