Freshly minted professional golfer Yadhu Urs concluded competition in men’s golf at the Central American and Caribbean Games with an eighth-place finish, positioning him as the second-leading player from the English-speaking Caribbean.
Competing over four rounds at the Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Urs hit 294 to end in a three-way tie for eighth place with Costa Rica’s Elias Alejandro Mardeni and Puerto Rico’s Jeronimo Esteve.Â
Amongst Caribbean athletes, Urs was behind only the Dominican Republic’s bronze medalist Guillermo Pumarol, Trinidad & Tobago’s Christopher Richards Jr, and the Dominican Republic’s Juan Jose Guerra (T5). Urs was just 13 strokes back of champion José Manuel Toledo Novales of Guatemala (-17).
After opening the tournament with a 76 (+4), the Ohio Dominican University graduate and 2024-2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Men’s Golfer of the Year consistently chipped away at his scores, finding his stride in the latter half of the event. He carded a 74 in Round 2 and followed it up with back-to-back even-par rounds of 72.
Overall, Yadhu’s result reflects growing maturity and consistency in championship golf. Competing against players from established golfing nations such as Guatemala, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Barbados, Jamaica, and El Salvador, a top-10 finish is a commendable achievement.
Golf Saint Lucia Inc. expressed congratulations to Urs on an outstanding performance. The 23-year-old started competing on the professional circuit in Europe earlier this year.
