Juveniles Arrested In Robbery Probe

Police have confirmed arresting four juvenile males during an investigation into a robbery at a secluded beach in Marigot on Monday.

According to reports, the youngsters wore masks, had armed themselves with sharp objects, including a knife, a cutlass, and what appeared to be a firearm, held up two visitors and robbed them of cash.

The incident is the latest in what the authorities have described as an alarming trend of juveniles engaging in serious crime.

Earlier this week, the City Police disclosed that they had arrested some youngsters for offences in Castries and taken them to the Boys Training Centre (BTC).

City Police Head, Yone Camchon, urged parents to steer their children away from crime actively.

Camchon also warned that under the Saint Lucia Criminal code, a parent or guardian could be held responsible for the actions of a juvenile charged with a summary offense.

  1. The parents themselves need to be steered in the right direction … mwen-meme, mwen las. If we investigate properly we will realize that in most cases there is a whole parental lineage that needs to be held accountable (matrilineage/patrilineage)

  2. This is a result of undisciplined, uneducated kids having kids – when I was growing up in St. Lucia I could not bring a pencil home that my parents did not purchase – they would ask me to return it immediately. These thugs are bringing all kinds of items and money home (have no jobs) and their parents are partaking of the ill gotten gains. I say charge the entire household of thugs and accomplices for the crimes.

  3. I totally agree with the parents of those youngster take accountability for their kid’s actions okay.

  4. Why send them boys training centre? Aren’t they man enough to head to the big house being that they can chop, kill, rob, rape, carry knives, gain access to guns etc well that is a grown assed crime and these youths need to be eradicated.
Number one arrest the parents and charge only cash bail , arrest and charge the kids too.
In Lucia why is there bail for high crimes and nonsense bail at it. I mean only charge cash bail nothing like land to secure amd make bail extremely high hundreds of thousands for high rates crimes.
So not send youth boys training knowingly they committed such heinous crimes.
Saint Lucia laws too slack, start death penalty to free up space.

  5. @Anonymous you are so right. Yet a few months ago when I said ppl need to stop having children they can’t afford (financially and emotionally) everyone was up in arms. These issues stem from the home– poverty, neglect, abuse, etc. I am not pro-abortion or anti-natalist but I do believe not everyone should be having children just because they are biologically able.

  6. This is no joke here. They are targeting tourist a new block needs to be built at the prison for them. This can and will negatively impact st. Lucia.
