Saint Lucia’s U17 World Cup Qualification Hopes Ended by El Salvador

Saint Lucia lost again in their push for qualification in the Men’s Under-17 Football World Cup, falling 2-0 against El Salvador on Wednesday.

The fixture was played at the Estadio Cementos Progreso in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

The Young Piton Boyz entered the encounter needing a win following their 3–1 defeat against Jamaica. However, they found themselves down within 20 minutes when Luis Tobar opened the scoring in the 15th minute to give La Selecta the lead.

El Salvador doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute when Kerin Torres struck a precise right-footed finish inside the box to beat the Saint Lucia defence.

With qualification hopes now mathematically out of reach, the team will aim to end their stint in Guatemala on a high note when they face the Cayman Islands on Saturday.

Despite their struggles in this campaign, the Young Piton Boyz have shown moments of promise and resilience on the international stage.

Saturday’s match against the Cayman Islands offers a final opportunity for the team to finish on a positive note and gain valuable experience for future competitions.
