Independence Football Wins for VSADC, Monchy, Lancers, Pioneers, GMC

There were 31 goals scored in 11 games at the weekend as the Golden Sports Independence Football Festival kicked off at the Corinth Playing Field. Six matches were played in the Under-11 division and five in the Under-16 category, involving eight teams in total. 

Lancers FC got two wins at the Under-11 level, defeating Nyah and VSADC. Against Nyah, Jordan Daniel, Jayden Biscette, Gabriel Daniel, and Kheyrie Paul netted a 4-0 win. In another Castries derby, Lancers edged VSADC 1-0 compliments of Gabriel Daniel.

VSADC got the better of Pioneers 3-2, Enricus Etiene and Monte Ross pacing them to a 2-0 lead after eight minutes, before Kervan Christopher pulled one back for Pioneers. But Carlton Forde scored in the 10th to restore the VSADC advantage. Mitch Octalien’s marker in the 23rd for Pioneers was the last to find the back of the net.

Monchy got a win and a draw. They beat Nyah 3-1, with goals from Demetrius Dolcy (14), Junior William (24), and Daniel Duboulay (38). Theo Euphermond scored for Nyah. Monchy also drew 1-1 with Northern United. Demetrius Dolcy opened in the 11th for Monchy. Olurvant Germain scored for Northern United in the 28th.

In the final match of the Under-11 division, Pioneers got their first win, whilst consigning Northern to a second loss, 2-1.

GMC got a big win in the Under-16 category, swamping Nyah 7-0. Landen Felicien recorded a three-minute brace in the 8th and 10th. Malik Charlery in the 3rd, Jayden Goodridge (20), Curtis Auguste (21), Kyvanta Garner (27), and Hansel Carasco with a 37th minute penalty completed the blowout victory.

Monchy got two wins, topping Nyah 2-0 and Valley Soccer 1-0. Against Nyah, Kareem Francis and Thadden Antoine scored. Nasri Alexander rescued his team in injury time against the Orangement of Valley Soccer.

Lancers played to two draws. Kymani Sexius scored for them against GMC, only for Kyvante Garnivier to knot it back up at 1-1. Lancers and Valley Soccer played to a goalless draw.

Matches continue this weekend at the same venue. The Golden Sports Independence Festival is sponsored by Member of Parliament for Gros Islet, Kenson Casimir, the National Lotteries Authority, the Gros Islet Football League, and Golden Sports 758.
