Defending champions and current league leaders La Clery widened the gap at the top of Tier 1 in the Saint Lucia Semi-Professional League, following a smashing performance against former table-toppers Mabouya Valley.
While all other top-six teams played to goalless draws over the weekend at the Francis Baba Lastic Grounds, La Clery remained unbeaten and handed the Valley boys their second consecutive defeat.
Mabouya Valley had started the season strongly, with three wins in their first five matches. But La Clery surged ahead early, going up 3–0 within the first 15 minutes thanks to Malik “Showtime” St Prix and Uhan Degazon. By halftime, St Prix had completed his hat-trick and Degazon had added a brace, giving the champions a commanding 5–0 lead.
Mabouya Valley made several substitutions that briefly shifted the momentum, with Maius Stanislaus pulling one back just before the hour mark. But La Clery responded in kind, introducing fresh legs of their own. Substitutes Yanic Noel and Erickson Reid each found the net, sealing a 7-1 victory. Degazon and St Prix now top the season’s goal-scoring charts with eight and six goals, respectively.
Elsewhere, Central Castries and Gros Islet played to an entertaining 2-2 draw, leaving both teams in their previous positions. Messiah Pinel opened the scoring for Central from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, but Troy Greenidge equalised moments later. Pinel struck again in the 50th minute, only for Gros Islet substitute Eden Charles to level the match in the 72nd.
Vieux Fort South and Canaries also shared points in a 1–1 draw. VFS, who previously defeated Gros Islet and remain the only team to take a point from La Clery, conceded first to Rio Lonogville before Saviola Elva equalised in the second half.
At the bottom of the table, Soufriere’s struggles continued with a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Choiseul.. Hanif Antoine led the charge with a hat-trick, while Devin Phillip, Arthurton Griffith and Christopher Montoute each added goals in Choiseul’s second win of the season.
Dennery became the last team to earn a win this campaign, beating South Castries 3-0. Kenvie Polius, Elijah Joseph (penalty), and Jarvel Favuher all scored in the first half.
