The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) is reporting an 18 per cent decline in overall crime for the year to date, marking another period of progress in the country’s fight against criminal activity.
Police Commissioner Verne Garde, addressing the media at an October 29 police press conference, said the results reflect the dedication and discipline of officers across all divisions.
“My men and women in the organisation seem to be doing something which is correct and which is right,” Garde said.
According to data from the police force, 13 009 offences were reported between January and October 2025, compared to 15 369 during the same period last year. The decrease builds on a 16 per cent drop reported in September, as police continue to target firearm offences, theft and violent offences.
Additionally, Commissioner Garde reported that the force recorded unprecedented firearm seizures, representing the largest recovery of illegal guns and ammunition in Saint Lucia’s history.
“We have intercepted 4 857 live rounds of ammunition — the highest rounds intercepted in the history of record keeping in Saint Lucia,” he said. The RSLPF also recovered 98 firearms over the respective period.

During the corresponding period, homicides also decreased, with 62 recorded for the year compared to 67 in 2024.
The RSLPF says these results stem from sustained community partnerships, intelligence-driven patrols, and proactive border enforcement. Commissioner Garde added that continued collaboration will be key to maintaining momentum through the remainder of the year into the holiday season.
