Police Seize Over Half Ton of Cocaine in 2025 Crackdown

Law enforcement authorities in Saint Lucia have recorded substantial drug seizures between January and October 2025, with operations targeting cannabis cultivation and cocaine trafficking.

The figures, compiled through the police crime management system, reflect intensified efforts across key smuggling corridors.

According to an official report from the Royal Saint Lucian Police Force, “cocaine trafficking remains the most significant threat”, with more than half a metric ton intercepted in the first five months alone.

The report also notes that “the presence of synthetic drugs remains limited but requires continued vigilance, particularly at entry points”.

May registered a noticeable dip in interdiction activity across most categories, potentially signalling a temporary lull in trafficking or a shift in smuggling routes.

Below is a breakdown of the substances seized:

Substance Total Quantity Seized

Cannabis Plants 8,345 plants

Cocaine (kg) 585.227 kg
Crack (kg) 0.000 kg

These figures emerge as crime reduction remains a contentious issue between the island’s two major political parties ahead of the next general election.
