Soufrière Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS) held on to beat St Joseph’s Convent (SJC) 24-23 in an overtime thriller at the Beausejour Gymnasium on Friday, November 7, to successfully defend their Under-16 Girls’ Schools Netball title.
After regulation time, the game was tied at 19-19. Both teams were perfect from the field in the extra frame, comprising two five-minute halves. Kheryss Ferguson scored all five of her shots for SCSS, and Under-16 national captain Naija Ferdinand made all four attempts for SJC.

Goal shooter Fergusson scored 13 from 18 in regulation, supported by goal attack Indiana James, 6/13. SJC goal shooter Iyana William made 7/9, whilst goal attack Ferdinand had 12/14.
Ferdinand was the tournament’s most accurate shooter, converting 86.3% of her attempts on goal, 38/44. She also earned trophies for best attacking player of the final and tournament MVP, which came with $300 from the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports.
Faith Leon of SCSS was named the best defensive player of the final, while Kenisha Biscette of SJC was named best centre player of the final.
Saint Lucia Sports Academy (SLSA) took third place, beating Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) 18/7. Ahmani Wilfred scored 8/9 for SLSA, and Isabella Emelienne 9/9. For CCSS, Kiana Delice made 6/9.
