Vieux Fort, Soufrière, Gros Islet and Dennery will host matches in the 2026 Blackheart Football Tournament, following an online poll that drew more than 2,700 votes. Mindoo Phillip Park in Castries missed out, securing just 100 votes.
The popular knockout competition, a fixture of Saint Lucian football for decades, returns May 1-30 after a one-year hiatus. Organisers emphasised that fans played a direct role in shaping this year’s tournament, with voting focused on enclosed venues.
In a release, Blackheart Productions noted that “the overwhelming participation reflects the passion and growing support for community football throughout the island”.
Vieux Fort’s Phillip “Magii” Marcellin Grounds topped the poll with 800 votes – nearly 30 percent of the total – despite being unused in recent years due to security concerns. Soufrière Stadium followed with 750 votes, while Gros Islet’s Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds earned 665. Dennery’s Mabouya Valley Playing Field rounded out the list with 400 votes.
The Organizing Committee formally announced the host venues via a press release on Monday, March 9. “These venues represent key football communities across the island and will provide an exciting stage for teams and supporters to come together in celebration of the sport,” said Blackheart CEO David “Shakes” Christopher.
The tournament has become one of Saint Lucia’s most anticipated community football events, bringing together talented players, passionate supporters and local communities in a month-long showcase of competition, sportsmanship and entertainment. Further announcements will be made in the coming weeks regarding team registration, match schedules and tournament prizes.
La Clery are the defending champions from the 2024 tournament.
