Saint Lucia prepares for ECVA Senior Beach Volleyball

Three-time defending champions Joseph Clercent and Sheldon Descartes have been drawn in Pool A for the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Senior Beach Volleyball Championship at the Buckeye Facility in Cul de Sac over the Labour Day weekend, May 1-3.

Teams from St Kitts & Nevis (Darron Oxford and Jonell Phillip) and Dominica (Tahj Jno Jules and J’den Robinson) will have the first crack at unseating the men gunning for a fourth consecutive title.

Two more Saint Lucian teams are in the men’s draw. Peter Emmanuel and Lindan Clarke are in Pool B with the second-seeded Kittitians, Julian Bristol and Elkreen Morton, and Ronaldo Franklyn and Jamaar Cropper of St Vincent & the Grenadines.

In Pool D, Diallo Albert and Levi Leonce will face off against Cairon Davis and George Freeland of Antigua & Barbuda, Anguilla’s Aiden Hazzard and Da’Quwan Fredericks, and the St Maarten duo of Shreefkerk Jacob and Rajheem Meulens.

Last year’s losing finalists, Bermuda’s Benjamin Barnett and Sean Tucker, top Pool C, which also includes Dominica’s Yahn Florent and Mervin Mingo, as well as Antigua & Barbuda’s Dwight Bonnie and Raenor Sharpe.

Bronze medallists last year, the top-seeded Saint Lucian pair of Clio Phillip and Tenayestlgni Joseph headline Pool A among the women. Denila Prospere and Amalia Louis are in Pool B, whilst Tiannie Severin and Abigail Evans will hope to advance from Pool C.

As an officially calendarized NORCECA event, this championship offers athletes from nine ECVA member islands a platform to compete at the highest regional level.

ECVA has said that the tournament will be “a celebration of skill, passion and sportsmanship, uniting experienced players and emerging talent in an exciting beach volleyball showcase”.
