Andrew did not expect 2026 to turn out like this.
The Piton Soca Star winner, who has now added the coveted Saint Lucia Carnival Road March title to his growing list of achievements, says there was a time this year when “everything was going left.”
Now, he is celebrating one of the biggest moments of his career after Biscuit was officially named the 2026 Road March champion. The song became one of the top anthems of this year’s carnival season.
Speaking to St. Lucia Times soon after the announcement, an emotional Andrew said he is still trying to take in the magnitude of his achievement.
“Yeah, I’m feeling great about that. I’m very, very excited about that,” he said.
When asked if he expected this kind of success at the start of the year, the singer revealed that his journey was not easy.
“I don’t even really know what to say up until now because I’m surprised, ‘cause it wasn’t going that way. Everything was going left until we came up with this song for the year,” he said.
Biscuit quickly became a crowd favourite, taking over fetes, carnival events and the streets all season. Fans praised the catchy track, with many calling it one of the year’s best releases.
When I asked Andrew how he came up with such lyrics, he said the song came together in an unexpected way.
“Me, I’m a lyrical person. It’s very easy for me to put amazing words together,” he said.
He revealed that Biscuit was actually created while he was at work.
“I wrote that song at work, so it wasn’t a really, really difficult task. But I didn’t really write that song; the song was more of a freestyle,” he recalled. He also said his friends helped shape the final version.
Andrew reserved his biggest praise for the supporters who embraced Biscuit from the very beginning.
“I would love to say a huge thank you to everybody that supported the vibe because there are a lot of people that really looked out. The song is what it is because of them,” he said.
“So thanks to all of the people that were spinning on that and supporting that because I know a lot of the people loved that song and they helped push it.”
Andrew said he wishes he could thank everyone in person who helped make his win possible.
“I wish I could shake everybody’s hand that supported the vibe,” Andrew said.
He also gave special thanks to fans overseas, saying the support reached far beyond Saint Lucia.
“I’m actually grateful for that… every day.”
Now that he has both the Piton Soca Star and Road March titles, Andrew has cemented himself as one of the standout performers of Saint Lucia Carnival 2026. Biscuit has left an undeniable mark on the festivities.
