Former national boxer Marvin “The Artist” Anthony is planning a comeback.
The 36-year-old middleweight hopes to make his professional debut before the end of the year, and he is appealing for public support to achieve his goal.
Anthony, who fights at 75 kilograms and is based in Britain, last stepped into the ring in late 2024. He defeated Dean Amu Siame at a White Collar Boxing event at PRYZM Kingston, London. A thunderous right hook in the second round gave Anthony a TKO victory and his second win of the year.
At the time, Anthony said he was focusing on helping young boxers develop their skills, but he still wanted to compete himself if he could find the financial support he needed.
Now, Anthony is training again with coach Tony Velinor at Ringtone Boxing Gym. As he nears the end of his second decade in boxing, he is asking for financial help to make the move to professional boxing.
“Marvin Anthony is a warrior, and he needs your financial help to get him over the line for his professional debut,” reads his fundraiser. “He is a sure winner, and it’s about time he goes professionally as a boxer! Help make this dream come true, not just for him but for our beloved island Saint Lucia. Please invest in a winner today!”
Anthony told St Lucia Times that boxing requires real commitment. He pointed out that Saint Lucia has produced few professional boxers. As a personal trainer, coach and father of two, Anthony said he feels he must finish what he started.
“Boxing is a serious sport,” he said. “No one else [from Saint Lucia] is pursuing it. I believe I’m obligated to finish what I’ve started. Tony is the man for the job. He’s always in my corner.”
