The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force released a statement on Monday about a homicide that took place in Anse Ger, Micoud, on Saturday.
That day, officers from the Micoud Police Station responded to a report of a suspected homicide in the area.
Police later found a man’s body in a concrete building. He had injuries to his face and body. The victim was identified as Nick Daniel, 28, from La Courville, Micoud.
Police say they have one person in custody who is assisting with the investigation.
St. Lucia Times has learned that the person being questioned has been dealing with mental health issues.
One source said, “The Micoud police have been called in to get him on many occasions, after he was going around making threats to people and acting violently.
“But I am not sure why, but he would be taken to the wellness centre and after a few days would be back on the streets.”
Reports say that on the morning of the incident, the alleged perpetrator was seen arguing with a family member. The victim tried to step in and calm things down, but was struck several times on the head with a bottle and collapsed.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Micoud Police Station at 456-3670. Anonymous tips can also be shared by calling 555, the Crime Hotline, or by using the RSLPF Crime Hotline App on the Google Play Store.
