The Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) has named Miran Louis as its new technical director, starting September 1.
Louis steps into the role previously held by Cyril “Ces” Podd and will lead all SLFA technical programs, focusing on developing players, coaches, referees and other technical staff.
SLFA President Lyndon Cooper welcomed Louis to the team and highlighted the importance of this role as the association works to elevate local football standards.
“This is a critical role within the association, and we look forward to working closely with him to strengthen our technical programmes and create greater opportunities for the development of our players and coaches,” Cooper said. “We believe this appointment will contribute significantly to the continued advancement of football.”
Louis brings extensive technical skills and international experience to the job. A UEFA B Licence holder, he graduated with first class honours from Staffordshire University in the United Kingdom, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in football coaching and performance. His qualifications also include the Concacaf Team Administration certification and introductory talent scouting credentials with the Professional Football Scouts Association.
Louis is known for leading GMC United to their first SLFA Senior Men’s Club Championship in April 2025, when they beat Platinum FC 1-0 in the final. Originally from Babonneau, he has also worked with New Generation FC and spent seven years teaching IT and coaching football at Ciceron Secondary School.
Over the past nine years, Louis has moved up through the national football system. He served as the SLFA Head of Coach Education and worked with the national under-17 male team and the under-17 female squad that travelled to Honduras for the Concacaf Championship. Abroad, his experience includes serving as an academy analyst and coaching intern at Port Vale Football Club in England, lead coach at Stoke RTC in the Junior Premier League, and head coach with First Kick Football.
In his new role, Louis will work closely with the SLFA Executive Committee, district leagues, club coaches and schools to align coaching methodology and establish clear pathways from grassroots football through to elite national squads.
