The Saint Lucia Showcase International was recently held and is being called a success. The event ended with a gala dinner, where tourism officials received more good news: Saint Lucia was named the No. 1 Island on Expedia’s 2026 Hot List.
Tourism officials say this recognition highlights Saint Lucia’s growing popularity with international travellers and celebrates the country’s unique mix of natural beauty, memorable experiences, lively culture and welcoming hospitality.
Nuno Sales da Ponte, Director of Market Management for the Caribbean and Central America, and Miguelina Cespedes, Senior Business Development Manager for the Caribbean, both from Expedia Group, presented the award.
Tourism Minister Dr Ernest Hilaire accepted the award on behalf of Saint Lucia.
“To receive this recognition in this setting was particularly special,” Hilaire said. “I was genuinely surprised by the presentation, but I could not think of a more fitting moment to receive it.
“To stand before our international trade partners and media colleagues who had travelled to Saint Lucia to experience our destination, our people and our hospitality, and to accept this recognition on behalf of Saint Lucia, is something I am extremely proud of.”
