Although the Saint Lucia men’s national football team is currently without a head coach, the Piton Boyz have already been handed their next international assignments, with the schedule now set for the 2026-27 Concacaf Nations League (CNL).
The fifth edition of the CNL kicks off in the September-October FIFA match window, continues in November, and culminates in March 2027. Saint Lucia, competing in League B, discovered their opponents after the official draw on Thursday, July 23, in Miami, Florida.
The Piton Boyz are drawn in Group B, alongside Barbados, Bermuda, and Guadeloupe. They have six games between September and November. Per the Concacaf website, all September games will be in Bermuda. The action shifts to Saint Lucia in October, then to Guadeloupe in November to end the group phase.
Sitting at 166th in the FIFA Coca Cola Men’s Rankings, Saint Lucia open their campaign against familiar foes Barbados on September 25. At 179th, the Bajan Tridents are the lowest-ranked team in the group. Dating back to mid-2024, they have won just five of their last 15 fixtures, with three draws.
Saint Lucia edged Barbados in their most recent encounter, winning 2-1 in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers last June.
The Boyz play Bermuda on September 28. Their only previous meeting was back in 1990, when the Gombey Warriors won 2-0. The men from the North Atlantic are ranked 167th.
The toughest matches for Saint Lucia will be back-to-back on October 2 and 5, versus Guadeloupe. Although unranked, as they are not a FIFA member, the Gwada Boys were seeded as the strongest team in this group.
This will be the second time Saint Lucia and Guadeloupe meet in the CNL. During the 2023-24 cycle, Saint Lucia won 2-1 at home but fell 2-0 in the reverse leg.
The Saint Lucia Football Association parted ways with former head coach Stern John just over two weeks ago. He led the national selection to second place in their group for the 2024-25 cycle, including a win over Curaçao, and qualified for the Gold Cup preliminaries in 2023.
The top team in the group will qualify for the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States. They will also be promoted to League A for the next CNL cycle and will advance to the League B semifinals next March.
