SALCC, SJC out in front after opening rounds of netball

Defending champions Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School began their 2026 campaign with a 20-16 win over Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School as the Under-19 Netball Tournament started on Wednesday with six games across two venues. 

VFCSS, who captured the previous title in a 31-30 final against Micoud Secondary behind tournament MVP Hayla Samuel and captain Mya King, secured five points to start Group B play at the Micoud Multipurpose Court.

In the remaining Group B matches at Micoud, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, featuring senior international Naija Ferdinand, defeated Choiseul Secondary School 37-13, and Beanefield Comprehensive Secondary School beat Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School 21-13. SALCC leads the group on goal difference (+24), followed by Beanefield (+8) and Vieux Fort Comprehensive (+4), each with five points. 

At the Beausejour Gymnasium, Group A opened with St Joseph’s Convent defeating Entrepot Secondary School 41-11 to take the top spot in the standings on goal difference (+30). Saint Lucia Sports Academy recorded a 29-7 victory over Castries Comprehensive Secondary School for second place (+22), while Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School defeated Babonneau Secondary School 24-16 to sit third (+8). 

The tournament continues on Monday, with another six fixtures. In Group A at Beausejour, SLSA meets Sir Ira Simmons Secondary at 10 a.m. Babonneau plays SJC at 11:45 a.m. CCSS faces Entrepot Secondary at 1:30 p.m. In Group B at the Micoud Multipurpose Court, Soufriere Comprehensive meets Beanefield Comprehensive, LHCSS takes on Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, and VFCSS faces Choiseul Secondary.
