A resident of Dennery where firefighters discovered the bodies of two children at a fire scene, has been speaking about the tragedy.
The distraught resident said she is a relative of the children’s mother.
The Dennery fire station received a distress call at about 9:38 am on Thursday and rushed to the fire scene, where the responders found a wooden structure fully engulfed in flames.
The firefighters extinguished the blaze, but afterwards they found the charred bodies of the children aged two and five.
Truly tragic indeed. May the grieving famiily, friends, and community find meaningful consolation

Their age will wrecked anyone hearts.. what went on here broad daylight. We as parents need to step up. We cannot allow innocent soul’s go in such manner.. God return back to this rock you abound please. Pray with clean hearts. RIP my angels
@prober she was very careful as you can hear in the video, the one day for whatever reason it was she left them alone. This can happen to anyone, try as you may an accident is just that.
If the mother and father were not on the premises at the time of the fire they need to be arrested ASAP… This is madness..
There are such things as freak accidents,that mom will be shunned in society after that loss,plz try not to add extra wieght on her heart for she may be innocent.

it only takes ONE day for things to go haywire on us and thats it…its time we start to learn that and take precaution as much as possible….when i read the article i was like but how can the mother leave these very young kids in a house alone??? then i remembered instantly one day i was cooking and i went on the bed and said to myself i will check the stove in a bit…..next thing i knew i jump from the sleep and the pan was already black…i said AA God thank you AA that i do there??? i say this to say it happens to the best of us…we get away with mistakes at times…..but this one was sad tragic for these souls…my mother would leave her 12 and 15 year old and go to town i checking on them 24/7 ..so farless a 2 and 5 year old??? to me no mother should leave kids so young in a house unattended….lucian women learn to protect your kids no matter the cost….she should have brought all of them with her or leave them by someone…..wen u go n shop with them u must get a good samaritan on the way to help with the groceries……come on…lets assist each other in times of need st lucians…let be our brother’s keeper
The woman should NEVER have left a 5yr old and 2yr old alone, they have no idea how to deal with danger.

I hope this mother is arrested and charged for causing the deaths of her children through her negligence. It’s time to set an example for the many other parents who do this madness. There is no excuse for her actions, she is a danger to her living child, send her to jail asap.
Well let me say what some of you refuse to say. Did she set that house on fire with two children it? Sounds plausible. This woman must be investigated.
Some of these comments are ridiculous. Arrest the woman? From what i gathered it was an aweful accident that should not have happened. Many times we take so called little risks here and there after having a track record of crossing our t’s and dotting our i’s. No one expected this. Right now the mom needs alot of support and counselling to manage her self guilt so that she would be mentally and financially capable of taking care of the rest of her kids… I really wished this never happened

Reminds me of that case in Marigot a few years back 2 kids the same age got burnt, the mother went out, not her habit etc etc. She was found guilty and served 12 years.

A mother with four children, two taken-up, two remain; none of us know but do consider the merciful, it was two. An Aunt of mine had just one child, Gretta, who died of 90% burning; she never had another. Kevin my little friend, also died of burning whose grave I visited often while growing up, but that was yesterday.There are many yesterdays in our lives and I thank The Almighty, how some innocents are taken sooner than others. Why was my life be saved from drowning, after taken down twice but before the third and final time, ADA the deaf and dumb, whom I considered God’s messenger, purposely placed there seeing the danger, rushed over to save this here soul – ADA must be in Heaven by now, one of my grand Daughters just Texed today while spending two weeks vacation in Jerusalem with her Law School students: how do these things work, only God knows. Thank God for little blessings, I believe and some don’t – Blessed be His Holy Name.

@anonymous let people air their view…….this sad thing has happened and i am sure women will still leave their children in their house unattended….this is to say parents do not leave children in the house by themselves esp this young…….a 2 and 5 year old can do absolutely nothing for themselves…..it does not take rocket science to understand this much….
Totally agree. She should not have left the children at home by themselves. But taking two or three kids of that age out with you on a bus can turn out to be a hassle. The drivers get vex. They say they do not have a school bus. Last week on the Gros- Islet bus stop one even made everybody get off his bus when it was time to head out because he said there were too many children on his bus. To be fair, the other driver condemned his behaviour and encouraged the passengers to report him. Somebody took his plate number. I hope they did.
This event is tragic and unfortunate and I’m no judge so I will not cast any blame. However I understand that people are not just upset about the two lost lives but also very empathetic and sympathetic. I respect everyone’s point of view on that matter. Regardless of all what I’ve heard from relatives and others at the scene, I think the mother is very genuine in her story, but I will still say that this was negligence on her part. First you don’t leave 2 children sleeping in a house and run to the shop. Second I’m hearing that she left a pan on fire, hope for her sake this is false. Third there is no such thing as rushing to come back immediately, cause you never know what the circumstances along the way or at the establishment will be.
Sad. If she lived near relatives and she really had to step out in a hurry, why didn’t she inform one of them so they can cast an eye out, be on the look out for signs of anything that is not right in that house in her absence? Here is a relative crying in the news clip. It’s either that’s crocodile tears or this lady had a support system which she did not make use of and look what happened to the children. When my kids were much younger and I had to relocate because of my job, my landlady realized I was away from my family and was very supportive. She told me I should never hesitate to leave the kids with her if I had an emergency. On the days when the bus driver brought them home before I was back from work,, she would make them an afternoon snack and have them take a nap if they were sleepy. It still takes a village to raise a child, whether or not we are aware of it or want to admit it.

Some of you’ll that quick to judge she never had the habit of leaving her kids in the house alone she quickly ran to the shop to buy sugar to feed them and it was raining yes it was a mistake leaving the kids alone but she love her kids an would never neglected them
