Wounds Deepen as Father of Choiseul Family Chopping Dies

The already deep wounds of the Labadie family are now even more painful. In the early hours of Friday, the family’s patriarch, 62-year-old Vernon Labadie, was pronounced dead after battling for his life since the brutal chopping incident exactly three weeks ago.

Robert Labadie, the eldest son, told St Lucia Times that his family has been struggling to cope since receiving the tragic news.

On January 31, 2025, a known assailant and his accomplice stormed the family’s Industry, Choiseul home, armed with cutlasses. The primary suspect, allegedly the ex-boyfriend of one of the victims, savagely attacked her, her father, her mother and a five-year-old relative, who were in the residence at the time.

According to Robert, the family has not had a good night’s rest since the incident.

“None of us can sleep. [If] an animal passing behind the house, we have to look. We’re all paranoid. We cannot even sleep in our own home,” he lamented.

“I want justice for my people. If y’all cannot give my family justice, call me, I will do it…. Justice have to prevail. That’s innocent people that in the house there.”

While Robert and his family continue to fight for justice, the unfortunate reality of burying their patriarch still rests on their shoulders.

Five days after the incident, Vaughn Mark of Victoria, Choiseul, and Kendal Sansion of Sapphire Estate, Laborie were each charged with four counts of attempted murder. They have been remanded into custody.

  1. What is causing individuals in St. Lucia to resort to stabbing, chopping, shooting etc. etc. Why would someone go into someone’s home and cause such carnage??????? – by chopping so many individuals mercilessly. Clearly it appears that a number of things could be at play in 758:
    – demon possessed by the devil
    – severe mental illness
    – deliberate wicked individuals

Some of your gang bangers belong in prisons outside of St. Lucia (a point of no return). Every day a murder in St. Lucia worst that the day before. Clearly, it is not safe for anyone.

  2. Rip Sir, condolences to family, this is a sad state of affairs in Lucia, I hope we don’t see the likes of 8 people being shot like last independence around the island. stop the violence, cool down yo tempers,u only got 1 life to live!!!
