Jamaican-American artist Klassik won the “Dennery Segment Song of the Year” award for his hit Dansa at the fourth Caribbean Music Awards – the first time the ceremony took place in the Caribbean.
The show was held last weekend in Trinidad & Tobago and introduced new categories, including the Saint Lucian-born genre Dennery segment. Klassik won against strong nominees like Blackboy’s Clap, Hollywood HP and Ricky T’s Freak Out and Dezral & Jardel’s The Car.
Umpa won Dennery Segment Artiste of the Year, ahead of Blackboy, DJ ASAP, Mighty, Nerdy and Dezral & Jardel.
The awards also recognised genres like soca, bouyon soca, chutney soca, zess, Latin Caribbean, dancehall, reggae and konpa.
The event was previously held in Brooklyn, New York. The 2026 edition celebrated Caribbean music released in 2024 and 2025, marking an important milestone for the region.
