There will be new champions crowned in the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA) Super 50 tournament, when the finals are played this weekend at Mindoo Phillip Park. Title holders Central Castries were undone by Gros Islet, whilst Babonneau fell to South Castries in last weekend’s semifinal round of play. Â
Gros Islet secured their place in the final with a four-wicket victory over Central Castries at MPP, behind the all-round efforts of Tarrique Edward.Â
Central, put in, were dismissed for 197 in 36.2 overs. Captain Stephen Naitram led the scoring with 52 from 65 deliveries, including five fours and one six, whilst Kyle Adonis struck 42 from 37 balls with two fours and three sixes. Aiden Scholar, McKenny Clarke, and Dillan John contributed 19 runs each. Tyrel Chicot claimed 3-22 from 6.2 overs, Isaiah Jones took 3-34, and Edward took 2-78.
Gros Islet completed the chase in 34 overs, reaching 202-6. Edward guided the innings with an unbeaten 62 from 69 balls, hitting one four and five sixes. Noelle Leo contributed 39 from 27 balls at the top of the order, Lee John added 20, and Chicot sealed the win with an unbeaten 22 off 11 deliveries. Jaden Elibox was the primary wicket-taker for Central Castries, with 3-44 from 10 overs, supported by one wicket each from John, Adonis, and Tyler Sookwa.
In the second semifinal at the Francis Baba Lastic Ground, South Castries recorded an eight-wicket win over Babonneau, thanks to a sterling bowling effort from Royce Paul.Â
Babonneau were bowled out for 116 in 23.1 overs, as medium-Royce Paul produced the decisive bowling performance of the round, taking 6-36 in 6.1 overs. Daniel Jn Baptiste provided support with 2-26, with Aaron Joseph and Simeon Gerson collecting one wicket apiece. Jehan Boodha top-scored with 47 from 41 deliveries, and Dane Edward made 19.Â
South Castries needed only 15.2 overs to reach their target, finishing on 120-2. Johnson Charles struck an unbeaten 44 from 24 deliveries, featuring five fours and three sixes. He shared an unbroken third-wicket stand with Tonius Simon, who made 27 not out from 35 balls. Opener Ephron Charles chipped in with 25 from 28 deliveries. Devon Eugene and Larry Edward claimed one wicket each for Babonneau.
Gros Islet will meet South Castries in the championship match on Sunday, October 11 to decide the 2026 title.
